The Orange County Housing Authority (OCHA) Local Rent Supplement Program (OC-LRSP) waiting list is currently closed. It was opened for the first time for one week in June, 2019. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

Please note:

  • Only Orange County residents with incomes at or below 50% of area median income are eligible.
  • This program is NOT the federal Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program. It is funded by the Orange County Board of Commissioners and administered by OCHA. The rental subsidy provided varies by household size. A limited number of security deposit and utility grants will be available. No citizenship documentation is required to apply or receive assistance.

To apply during the opening period, applicants were required to complete the online application.

The waiting list had the following preferences: Homeless or at risk of homelessness, Elderly, Disabled, Domestic Violence survivor, and Displaced due to urgent community need (like a mobile home park closure).

Selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery, by order of preferences.

Orange County, North Carolina Local Rent Supplement Program has preferences for: Elderly, Displaced by Natural Disaster, Victims of Domestic Violence, Live, Work, or Attend School Locally, Homeless, Displaced by Government Action, Disabled.
