The Mexico Housing Authority (MHA) is currently accepting Public Housing waiting list pre-applications for families and senior/disabled households.The MHA offers two Public Housing communities with 207 units for families and senior/disabled households, ranging in size from 1 to 4 bedrooms.There are three ways to apply:

  1. Request to have a pre-application mailed to you by calling (573) 581-2294 from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm CT, Monday-Friday.
  2. Download a pre-application online here, then print and complete.
  3. Visit the MHA to pick up a pre-application, located at 828 Garfield Ave., Mexico, MO 65265, from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday.
Once the pre-application has been completed, it can be hand delivered to the address listed above, or mailed to PO Box 484, Mexico, MO 65265.Be sure to include copies of these documents with the pre-application: Social Security Cards and birth certificates for all household members, government or state issued IDs for all adult household members, employment income, proof of child support (if applicable), food stamp award letter (if applicable), TANF award letter (if applicable), Social Security award letter (if applicable), proof of all other income, bank statements, list of assets, verification of current residency, and yearly medical expenses.The MHA does have a preference for: Working families, elderly, disabled, or applicants that live and/or work in Audrain County.For more information, visit the MHA website, or call the office at (573) 581-2294 from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday.
